Behavioral Neurologist/ Sleep Specialist
Dr. Daniel A. Cohen, M.D., M.M.Sc., is a neurologist with subspecialty board certifications in both Behavioral (Cognitive) Neurology and Sleep Medicine. He serves as the Clinical Chief of Neurology for Sentara Medical Group and is an Associate Professor and Chair of Neurology at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Dr. Cohen earned his medical degree from the University of Florida and completed his Internal Medicine internship, Neurology residency, and fellowships in Cognitive Neurology and Sleep Medicine through Harvard Medical School at Boston's Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He also completed a research fellowship in Sleep and Circadian Neurobiology at Brigham & Women's Hospital. His research interests include the interface between sleep and cognition, focusing on the role of sleep in memory processing and the effects of sleep loss and circadian misalignment on neurobehavioral performance. More recently, his work has shifted toward clinical trials aimed at enhancing care for Alzheimer's disease.
