Dr. David J. Houghton, MD, MPH, is a board-certified neurologist specializing in movement disorders at Ochsner Health in New Orleans, Louisiana. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from Emory University. Dr. Houghton completed his internship and neurology residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a fellowship at the Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Center at Pennsylvania Hospital. In 2012, Dr. Houghton joined Ochsner Health as Chief of the Division of Movement and Memory Disorders and Vice-Chair of the Department of Neurology. He also serves as the Medical Director of Ochsner's Telemedicine program, CareConnect 360, and leads the Huntington's Disease Society of America Center of Excellence at Ochsner. Dr. Houghton's clinical interests encompass all aspects of movement disorders, including deep brain stimulation and botulinum toxin injections, with a focus on research trials and interdisciplinary clinics. His publications have appeared in peer-reviewed journals, online medical texts, patient resources from the National Parkinson's Foundation, and textbooks on deep brain stimulation for Parkinson's disease. Throughout his career, Dr. Houghton has been recognized for his contributions to neurology and telemedicine, earning accolades such as System Physician of the Month, "Top 75" Physician, and Neurology Teaching Faculty of the Year.
